Field Production

This training is for producers interested in field shoots and editing as well as formerly certified PD-150 producers to become certified on our new tapeless HD SONY HXR-NX5U cameras.

Participants will learn camera menu navigation, functionality performance (iris, gain, shutter, white balance), camera set up, record options and transfer of files to Final Cut Pro. Once files are transferred and logged our Mac Basics course teaches you Apple navigation, interface and function as preparation to our Final Cut Pro editing class. The Final Cut Pro course will give producers an opportunity to craft their footage into meaningful stories.

Producers will be able to reserve and check out the Sony NX5U camera after certification. Final Cut Pro certified producers will be able to utilize the non-linear editing stations on the second floor.

 

HXR-NX5U Certification: In this hands-on course students learn basic media and field production skills. Members that successfully complete this course can use the NX5U to produce their own programs to air on MNN’s channels.

Prerequisite: Attend an Orientation, submit  Manhattan residency form, attend producer's workshop.

HXR-NX5U Recertification: This course aims to upgrade PD-150 certified producers on the usage of the new, tapless NX5U. Upon successful completion of the recertification course, producers can access the equipment to produce programming independently.

Prerequisite: Certification in PD-150 Camera class. 

Duration: 2 sessions 3 hours each

Mac Basics

Curriculum: Intro to Mac OS and interface, mouse navigation, modifier keys, applications, basic file management, icons, viewing options and menus.
